A few yrs ago a friend that I was working with got a call from work from her mother. She was at a restaurant with my friends young children and one of them had been throwing food around so she spanked him. One of the other customers called the cops on her and they showed up with the intention to arrest her for child abuse!!! She explained the situation to them and they let her go with a warning. Damn nosy bitch should have minded her own business and let the women discipline the child as she saw fit. Unless she really hurt him, which she didn't. I was spanked many times as a child and I still don't see anything wrong with spanking as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Well I don't know a lot about how to raise children (lol) I'm just used to the idea of it being illegal and I don't know if I could spank anything.
Basically it's just in Finland that nobody would really dare spank children and I'm used to being against it. When I was a teenager (am I still? Where's the line? LOL) me and my dad fell out often, I think it was when he had had a bad day. He would punch me in the face so I'd evetually fall on the ground and then he'd kick me until.. Until I don't know what. That was so weird! Once I said that this is enough, took a knife and was about to slit my wrist (lol, good kid I was...) he took the knife away and locked me into a small cupboard.

Me and him get along real fine though, I just don't give that much about anything. But this I know if I ever see any violence like a bar fight or anything between two big guys I'm the first to be in the middle to split the two up. I do have a bit of a temperament so I have no idea how I'll do that disciplining some day. My dog liked to be sprayed with the dang watergun (lol) but he turned out the most obediant and lovely dog [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I just read a case where a tired father got soo pissed off with his crying 3 month-old baby that he threw the baby onto a hard surface.. Anyone is aware that throwing a baby onto a hard surface kills it! Pretty clear murder to me! I'll just continue with my non-violence and nospaking views, until I get kids of my own that is lol! But, until then or even after that I would never interfere with or comment on parenting! It's a huge responsibility and I am pretty sure the parents know themselves what's best for a child [img]graemlins/dog.gif[/img]

OMG Maria!! How terrible to be punched in the face and locked in a cupboard. That's child abuse!! Here, what we consider spanking is a spat on the behind. There is a fine line between spanking and child abuse.
I was spanked as a child. I'm not traumatized from it and I'm thankful that I was loved enough to get a spanking if I needed it. When my kids get out of line, they get a hand on their behinds.

Their face is a treasure to behold when

They give great hugs, ( and always melt
our hearts when a sweet "I love you" is added)


They have an uncanny ability to look deeply into
our eyes and connect with our heart,
even when we don't want them to


They don't care whether colors match, but
are willing to be concerned if we want them to be


They give us a peek at the little boy
inside when they get sick or happy or hurt.
